Overview[]

The Hybrid Café, also known as Hybrid Coffee, is the lobby of Arena : Tower Defense, where players can socialize, start matches, and purchase items. They can also interact with characters where they would not be able to elsewhere, such as Naru, Kaiya (during events), and others via the Mail feature.

The elementary design of the Hybrid Café includes seating used for teleporting to maps and a counter where the barista, Naru, serves confections. Presently above this counter are three digital boards displaying a list of upcoming content, the Hybrid Café's menu, and the levels leaderboard respectively. To the far left of the counter are two leaderboards depicting the fastest times for a week's Pepper Challenges, including the Ghost Pepper Challenge and Carolina Reaper Gauntlet. Additionally, there are five different NPCs that can spawn across the building tending to various different tasks such as watering plants, sweeping floors, or simply sitting outside.

There have been three iterations of the café, with the formers being disused. However, the second-generation Hybrid Café can currently be seen cordoned off near the horizon. In addition, all Hybrid Cafés have had two floors of seating, with the current version having the smallest second level.

Map Design[]

Generation Three[]

The third generation café, also known as the current version, is a compact building with a more modern design compared to its predecessors; it was added on 14 August 2022 on the second day of Arenaversary and has been used since. It utilises wooden seating, a material that was used in the first-generation café. Cushions and pillows can also be seen placed on the quad-tables on the second level.

The café is additionally used as a venue for several badges, a few prime examples being Arenaversary, Naru?!, Oh The Misery, and more. A secret business office belonging to Miyamoto can be located underneath the stairs leading up to the second level. This office is mostly cosmetic, but also serves as a hint for the Kitsutori II and Naru?! badges and formerly a major component for the limited-time Maximum Charm badge. Moreover, the typically locked 'Staff Only' Room can be accessed by using a secret code (73324364) in relation to the A Secret Weapon badge.

On the 6th November 2022, the game was taken down by Roblox moderators due to suggestive art in the Art Gallery. During this time players could play in the Arena : TD Sandbox Playground. Subsequently, the Hybrid Cafe no longer had an art wall. Recently, a new updated art wall screen was sneaked peeked by Billie.

On the 6th May 2023 Update, Cafe workers were 'added' to the cafe. According to Naru, they appeared to be always there, and only because of a change in drink ingredients are we able to see the workers. They are interactable and can chat with you.

Generation Two[]

The second-generation café was a more expansive iteration, having generally large dimensions and a sizable board depicting the Hybrid Café's logo on the roof. Pillars located outside of the café's entrance were also covered in Hybrid Café signage. On the patio, there were plants and four tables and lights. Entering into the Hybrid Café through the patio would lead to the first level, where the rest of the café could be accessed.

The stairs leading to the second floor was left of the Art Gallery, which itself was located on an extreme right wall; sequestered under the stairs were two Fumo plushies of Billie and Cassy. The second floor was mainly used for seating, with alfresco dining available. There was also a medium-sized wall separating the second floor in half, of which were the Ruby and Amethyst tribe emblems plastered on each side. In total, there was 37 tables in the Hybrid Café, with 18 on the first level and 19 on the second. Each table had a board and some food, with the tables being arranged in line with the theme of Arena : Tower Defense being a board game.

Generation One[]

The first-generation café was the initial café launched upon the game's release, being radically different in appearance; it had a beige colour scheme and a more ligneous composition. The overall seating had a relatively simpler design, however it still stuck with the board game and coffee theme. The kitchen had a more open concept in this version as well.

The first level was divided into two sections by an angled glass structure, with one part being the rest of the café seating and the other being the stairs leading to the second level, which were of a basic type. Similarly to the other versions of the café, this iteration featured multiple boards, these being the menu, highest levels, highest waves, and information about one tower. The second level was where the six-player tables were situated while also featuring an outdoor area.

Trivia[]

  • The Hybrid Café was originally going to be a Hybrid Community Centre, but a café was chosen for developer convenience.
  • The Hybrid Café itself is a business venture owned by ArenaTech.
  • Players have an extremely slim chance to obtain a Void Mocha when receiving food/drinks from Naru, by which they will then earn the Lucky Morning badge.
    • This is impossible during Fridays since only pizza is sold. However, the Pizza Friday badge is then guaranteed.
  • The Fumo plushies of Billie and Cassy used in the second-generation café can be seen tucked beyond service equipment behind the counter.
  • The vacant table icon is an icon of Billie's former avatar holding a mug.
  • The coffees located at tables can have the tribe icons or the Site-logo icon in the form of latte art.
  • The duck on the second level in the second-generation café had no practical use until the addition of the Misleading Swordswoman skin.
    • This duck can be located in the current version of the café on an intramural platform above the entrance.
  • Although there were six counters in the second-generation café, Naru did not stand at any of them.
  • Naru had a much more limited menu in the first-generation café, selling a mere two drinks.
  • There were nine pumps of syrup in the first-generation café.
  • Although the first-generation café had no proper exit, it was possible to glitch out at the time.
    • Roblox had later patched a site-wide shift-lock glitch.
  • The board dedicated to the highest waves was removed in response to players glitch-abusing to attain higher waves.
  • The plant pot in the second-generation cafe took approximately 15 minutes to finish modelling. [1]
  • The water being watered by the cafe workers is dubbed as 'Premium Water' by some of the Cafe Staff.
  • There are a total of 6 Cafe Staff.
  • It is hinted that the Police are unaware of the new Hybrid Café.
  • According to the accounts of Cafe Staff, some characters like Rika and Fei(Swordswoman) have made visits to the cafe.
